Strat-O-Matic 1988 Replay Cubs Games 21-23
The Cubs continue their west coast trip for a three-game series against the San Francisco Giants. The Giants record so far this season is 7-5 with this being their first game against Cubs.

Greg Maddux (2-2) earns his second loss of the season after pitching 6 1/3 innings and giving up 15 hits, 5 strikeouts and 7 earned runs for an ERA of 9.95. Frank Dipino came in and pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up 1 hit and striking out one batter.
The Cubs combined for 9 hits with Mark Grace going 2 for 4 with a RBI. Darrin Jackson, Vance Law, Shawon Dunston each went 1 for 4 with a RBI.
Mike Krukow earned a win after pitching 6 innings while allowing 6 hits, 1 walk and 2 earned runs for an ERA of 3.00. Scott Garrelts pitching the last three innings giving up 3 hits, 1 walk, 3 strikeouts and 0 runs.

Jamie Moyer (2-1) earns his first loss of the season after pitching 5 1/3 innings while giving up 7 hits, 3 walks, 2 strikeouts and 6 earned runs for an ERA of 10.12. Les Lancaster can in to relieve Moyer in the 6th inning. Lancaster pitched 2 2/3 innings giving up 2 hits and 1 strikeout.
Ryne Sandberg hit his fourth home run of the season while going 2 for 4. Damon Berryhill went 1 for 4 with a triple driving in 2 runs.
Vance Law made an error today.
Mike LaCoss was the Giants starter and earned a win in 8 innings giving up 9 hits, 4 walks, 4 strikeouts and 4 earned runs for an ERA of 4.50. Craig Lefferts pitched the 9th giving up 1 hit.
Mike LaCoss helped himself today by going 2 for 3 with a 2 run home run. Bob Melvin also hit a 2 run home run, his only hit in 4 at-bats. Jose Uribe was 2 for 4 with a RBI.
Candy Maldonando committed an error in today's game.

Calvin Schiraldi (0-2) earned a loss today after pitching 5 innings while giving up 3 hits, 4 walks, 4 strikeouts and 1 earned run for an ERA of 1.80. Jeff Pico came in to pitch the 6th inning and struck out one batter. Pat Perry pitched the 7th and 8th inning and gave up 3 hits, 1 strikeout and 2 earned runs for an ERA of 9.00.
The Cubs had 9 hits today, 3 more than the Giants, but were unable to drive in any runs. Calvin Schiraldi hit two singles in two at-bats. Shawon Dunston was 2 for 4. Vance Law went 2 for 4 with a double.

Rick Reuschel threw an 8 1/3 inning shutout allowing 9 hits, 1 walk and two strikeouts for the win today. Scott Garrelts pitched 2/3 innings striking out one batter and earned a save.
Kevin Mitchell made an error at third base today.
After a disappointing series, the Cubs season record drops under 500 to (16-19) while the Giants bring their record to (10-5).
