Strat-O-Matic 1988 Replay Cubs Game 33


Today the Cubs travel to Houston to play a three-game series against the Astros.

The Astros take game one from the Cubs with a score of 4 to 2.

Jamie Moyer (2-3) earned a loss today while pitching 5 1/3 innings and surrendering 7 hits, 2 walks, 8 strikeouts, and 2 earned runs for an ERA of 3.38. Les Lancaster pitched the final 2 2/3 innings and allowed 3 hits, 1 strikeout, and 2 earned runs for an ERA of 6.75.

The Cubs bats were quiet today with Mark Grace hitting a 2 run home run. Ryne Sandberg and Andre Dawson each hit a double today.



On the mound for Houston was Jim Deshaies who is 0-2 so far this season. Deshaies earns a no-decision after pitching 7 1/3 innings while giving up 4 hits, 2 walks, and 2 earned runs for an ERA of 2.45. Larry Anderson pitched the final 1 2/3 innings and earned the win giving up no hits and no runs with one strikeout.



Buddy Bell had a great game going 3 for 4 with a home run and driving in 3 runs. Jim Deshaies was 1 for 3 with an RBI. In the field, Deshaies and Bill Doran committed an error in today's game.

After today's game, the Cubs slide to (20-24) for the season while the Astro's record increases to (6-8).
