Federation Commander First Missions AAR

In my last post, I gave an overview of how Federation Commander works, now I'm going to play out the First Missions scenario that can be downloaded for free from the ADB website. For those of you who didn't read my review, you can download First Missions for free which contains basic rules so you can try out Federation Commander before purchasing the complete game.

Federation Commander Review

Many years ago while I was still in high school I was at a friend's house playing some computer games, I believe Warcraft 2, and as my friends and I were leaving I passed his dad's den and he had a table set up with a big hex grid space map that had Captain Kirk's TOS Enterprise surrounded by two Klingon D-7s. I love Star Trek and didn't know anything about the game that was set up so I asked what it was and if we could play and was told it was called Star Fleet Battles but it was too complicated to teach. We were playing a bunch of different games back then so I let it go but my interest in the game never left.

New Stuff!!

After nearly a year we're back with some new stuff! First up is a quick picture of the first miniature I finished painting from my Empire Of The Dead Kickstarter lot. His name is Iron Head Ned and while my painting skills are around a D- he looks good enough on the table, plus it's better than anyone I play with can paint.

Strat-O-Matic 2013 Windows Game Review

Strat-O-Matic just released their 2013 game which is all the stats from the 2012 season. I bought both the card set as well as the Windows computer version. As far as game play goes it's the same game just one is played with player cards on a table with dice and the other is played fully with the computer. I've had it for about a week now and all I can say is that I love the Windows version. The game tracks all the stats for every play made and then some and for that alone I would recommend the computer version.
