Shadowrun 3rd Edition Cyberpunk RPG

When I was a kid my brother and I would rent Shadowrun for the Super Nintendo and while we were a bit too young to know what we were doing I loved the game and setting. In fact, it was my introduction to cyberpunk

My brother (a different one) and I went to my local used bookstore where I found some books that I had been looking for and was ready to leave but I stopped by the small shelf for RPGs. The small RPG section usually has a few Dungeons and Dragons books as well as something from Warhammer. In the times that I've checked the shelf in the past, I hadn't found anything that I wanted, until now.

Sitting on the shelf was a copy of Shadowrun 3rd edition that was in pretty good shape and surprisingly was for sale for the low low price of six dollars. I had always wanted to get a copy of the Shadowrun RPG rules but as with other RPGs, there were many different versions with many different supporters. The third edition seemed to be particularly hated. Not so much hated but just that the 4th edition was the 3rd edition with all the problems fixed. The biggest problem was that the game completely stalled out while the "decker" player began to ply his trade which ended up with the rest of the players sitting around with nothing to do but watch. Despite all this, I added Shadowrun 3rd edition to my gaming collection.

Once I was home I checked online what Shadowrun 3rd edition was selling for and it looks like I did ok with my purchase. I haven't had the chance to give it a full read but what I've seen so far I've liked. I particularly like the setting of the game, that cyberpunk Blade Runner Snatcher kind of world that it creates sounds like a fun environment to play in.

I currently have a huge backlog of RPGs that I've wanted to play but I think I'll try Shadowrun out, even if it's the 3rd edition. I already have some miniatures that fit this world well from The Department, the "Blade Runner" miniature game. Between needing to finish my "The Department" game, I also have 2 Hour Wargamers game 5150: Urban Renewal ruleset that I haven't had a chance to play it which makes Shadowrun the third on the list of cyberpunk games that I have to play. This isn't so bad of a problem.
