Lifeline Review

Lifeline is a text message video game by Three Minute Games and was released for Apple iOS and Android phones.

Lifeline plays out like a Choose Your Own Adventure book through text chats. An astronaut named Taylor finds himself stranded on an unknown planet with his crashed ship off in the distance. Taylor is able to contact you and asks you for advice when he comes to a decision. When Taylor has a choice to go with path A or path B you are the one who makes the call. As the story gets going the choices you'll have to make will have consequences, should Taylor eat the food he has or holds off until he can find more food. The story pulls you into the desperate situation that Taylor finds himself in. The game plays out in real time so when Taylor goes to sleep he doesn't contact you again until after he wakes up.

The game plays out in real time so when Taylor goes to sleep he doesn't contact you again until after he wakes up. The purpose of this game is to tell you a story and I enjoyed the story a lot. Numerous times I would check to see if Taylor had messaged me back. The game plays as simple as can be, if you walk Taylor into his coffin the game allows you to go back a few choices and try again.

If you do it right Lifeline will take you a couple of days to finish. If you're busy in the real world and can't answer Taylor that's fine, the game will wait until your free. Each time you interact with Taylor it usually doesn't take too much time, no more than ten minutes so it can be enjoyed during a few minutes of downtime.

Lifeline today costs $1.99 so you won't be out much if you don't care for it. In all honesty, I got the game for free when they had a sale but I would have easily paid two bucks for this game. It's a gripping story that makes you care for a that you never see, never hear, only communicating through text messages. I would give Lifeline an 7 out of 10.
