Strat-O-Matic 2012 New York Yankees Replay Game 1

Today the New York Yankees will play their season opener against Joe Maddon and his Tampa Bay Rays. The Yankees were 97-65 and won their division but were defeated by the Detroit Tigers in the ALDS so they are hoping to get to the ALCS or even better the World Series. The Rays went 91-71 in 2011 and made the playoffs but were defeated in the ALDS by the Texas Rangers so they are also looking to make it deeper into the playoffs.

GAME 1: NEW YORK YANKEES @ TAMPA BAY RAYS

Hiroki Kuroda pitched a complete game at Tropicana Field where the New York (AL) Yankees beat the Tampa Bay ballclub 10 to 2.

New York (AL) took the lead off James Shields in the first inning plating 2 runs using 3 hits. Derek Jeter got things going when he slapped a single. Curtis Granderson came to the plate and doubled. Alex Rodriguez dug into the batter's box next, but he struck out. Robinson Cano followed next and he doubled. Mark Teixeira stepped into the box and drew a walk. One out later, Raul Ibanez followed, but he was set down on strikes. New York (AL) totaled 14 hits on the afternoon.

Kuroda (1-0) got the victory, allowing 2 runs for the game. Shields (0-1) was hit with the loss. He gave up 6 runs and 7 hits in 1 inning.

So far the Yankees are playing great but the season has just started so stay tuned for game 2.
