If you've been following my 1988 Strat-O-Matic baseball replay you know I've played through the Mets and I'm halfway through the Cubs campaign. When I play these games I use dice and cards and I combine that with an app on my Ipad to keep track of all the stats. I have become lazy with age and while I will be continuing this playthrough I decided to kick it up a notch and use Strat-O-Matic to do all that work for me instead.
I have both the card set and windows files for the 2012 season so that's what I'll be playing. Unfortunately for me, the Cubs and Mets were not good in 2012 and I barely recognize their players. Also, all my replays have been for National League teams so I decided to switch it up and pick an American League team to play. I live in New England so I'm much more familiar with the Yankees and Red Sox teams than others in the league. Both teams had good years in 2012, particularly the Yankees as they lost in the ALCS to Detroit who went on to win the World Series. The Yankees team also had more players that I know compared to the Sox so I went with the Yankees. My goal is to make it to the World Series and if things go my way maybe I can win.
I will still be using dice and cards to play the game, the Windows version allows anyone to play with the dice and cards and you just enter the rolls into the computer and it does the rest automatically. This will allow me to play games faster and will be less work for me. I have some other replays I'd like to do so I'm going to try my best to play as many games as possible and with playing using Windows will allow me to blog each game faster so hopefully I'll be able to post a handful of games a week, only time will tell so stay tuned.
