Strat-O-Matic 1988 Replay Cubs Games 15-17


The Cubs head to Pittsburgh for a three-game series against the Pirates. The Cubs are 2-1 against the Pirates this season.

GAME 15 : CHICAGO CUBS @ PITTSBURGH PIRATES

Greg Maddux (2-1) earns his first loss of the season in a complete game. Maddux gave up 9 hits, 2 walks, 4 strikeouts and 5 earned runs for an ERA of 5.62

Ryne Sandberg was 1 for 5 with a solo home run, his third of the season. Shawon Dunston was 1 for 4 with a 2 run home run, his first of the season. Rafael Palmeiro was 1 for 5 with a RBI double.

For the Pirates Doug Drabek was the starter and earned a win today after pitching 8 innings while giving up 10 hits, striking out 5 and allowing 2 earned runs for an ERA of 2.25. Jim Gott came in to pitch the ninth giving up 2 hits and striking out 2 earning him a save.

Barry Bonds was 2 for 4 with a solo home run. Sid Bream was 2 for 4 with 2 RBIs.

Doug Drabek made two errors in today's game.

GAME 16 : CHICAGO CUBS @  PITTSBURGH PIRATES

Kevin Coffman (0-1) earned a loss today after pitching 6 innings and giving up 5 hits, 1 strikeout and 3 Earned Runs for an ERA of 4.50. Frank Dipino came in to pitch the seventh and eighth innings giving up no hits, 1 walk, 3 strikeouts and 0 Earned Runs.

Shawon Dunston and Kevin Coffman each hit one single today which were the only hits for the Cubs today.

Andre Dawson and Mark Grace each made an error in today's games.

Mike Dunne earned a win today against the Cubs while pitching eight innings and allowing 2 hits, 3 walks, 1 strikeout and 0 earned runs for an ERA of 0.00. Jim Gott pitched the ninth inning striking out one batter and earning a save.

Barry Bonds hits his second home run of this series while also hitting a single in five at-bats. Sid Bream was 1 for 3 with a walk and a RBI single. Mike LaValliere was one for four with a RBI double.

Jamie Moyer (2-0) earns his second win of the season after going seven innings against the Pirates while allowing 8 hits, 7 strikeouts, and 0 earned runs. Frank Dipino pitched the last two innings giving up 1 hit, 1 strikeouts, and 0 earned runs.

Damon Berryhill was 2 for 4 with a 2 run home run today. Shawon Dunston was 2 for 4 with 2 RBIs. Andre Dawson was 1 for 4 with a RBI double.

Darrin Jackson made an error in today's game.

Brian Fisher earned the loss today while going 7 innings and giving up 9 hits, 1 walk, 2 strikeouts and 4 earned runs for an ERA of 5.14. Jeff Robinson was put in to pitch the eighth and ninth innings and gave up 5 hits, 1 walk, 2 strikeouts and 4 earned runs for an ERA of 9.00.

The bats were quiet for the Pirates today with Jose Lind getting the Pirates only hit of the game, a single.

The Cubs avoid being swept by the Pirates bringing their season record to (16-16) while the Pirates season goes to (3-3). The Cubs travel Los Angeles to play the Dodgers.
