After a long break, we're back with another game for the Chicago Cubs 1988 replay. In today's game, the Cubs host the San Diego Padres.

Vance Law and Shawon Dunston lead the Cubs with 3 RBIs each, Mark Grace and Greg Maddux each hit two doubles in the game. Sandberg, Dawson, Jackson, and Webster each had one RBI.
For the Padres Dennis Rasmussen took the mound and earned a loss after pitching 7 innings and giving up 15 hits, 2 walks, 4 strikeouts, and nine earned runs for a total ERA of 11.57. Mark Davis came in to pitch the eighth inning and gave up two hits, two strikeouts, two walks, and zero earned runs for a total ERA of 0.00.
Tony Gwynn was one for four with a solo home run. Robbie Alomar went one for three with a double and an RBI.
With today's win, the Cubs bring their season record to (20-24) while the Padres loss brings their record to (3-2) against the Cubs.

At about one-fifth of the way through the Cubs season, I'm going to last some of the player's stats. Mitch Webster has the highest average currently at .333 with Vance Law at .314. Andre Dawson has the most RBIs with 32 followed by Vance Law at 22. For hits Dawson and Law both have 60 hits followed by Ryne Sandberg with 55. Law leads the Cubs with 15 doubles followed by Dawson who has 10. Darrin Jackson has hit three triples with Sandberg, Berryhill, Grace, and Dunston who each have two. Mark Grace and Law have walked 21 times with Sandberg following behind with 15. Shawon Dunston leads the Cubs with 45 strikeouts with Sandberg in second with 31.
Now to the pitchers, Jamie Moyer leads the Cubs with four wins, three losses, 74.33 innings pitched, 48 strikeouts, 18 walks with an ERA of 2.91. Greg Maddux follows him with three wins and four losses, 80 innings pitched, 46 strikeouts, 26 walks with an ERA of 4.50. Al Nipper has a two and zero record with 26 innings pitched, 10 strikeouts, 6 walks with an ERA of 2.05. For relievers Goose Gossage leads the Cubs with 6 saves, 2 wins, 4 loses, 18 strikeouts, 12 walks for an ERA of 8.59.
