TMNT Michelangelo NECA 7 Inch 1990 Movie Action Figure

Today I review the last turtle from NECA's TMNT Movie 7-Inch Action Figure line. Michelangelo is the youngest, goofiest, and worst 7 inch action figure of this line, unfortunately.

Like the other turtles, Michelangelo looks like a scaled down version of NECA's 1/4 TMNT Movie action figure line. He comes in 7 inches, is a Game Stop exclusive, and retails for $22.95.

Michelangelo has 30 points of articulation just like his brothers. His body is the same as Leonardo's minus his sword sheaths on the back of his shell. Michelangelo has a little more flexibility than Leonardo does as he doesn't have the sword sheaths getting in the way but it still isn't much more.

Michelangelo comes with a total of seven accessories. He has two bandana ends, two nunchakus, two hands, and one piece of pizza. After breaking Donatello's hand I decided not to switch out his hands.

I have two big problems with this action figure. First off is the paint on the head. As you can see he has orange paint all over his face. None of the other turtles had any bandana paint on their faces so I'm not too happy about this. If this was my only problem I would still be mad but unfortunately it gets worse.

When I pulled his nunchaku out of the packaging they immediately fell apart, both of them. It looks like a few strings hold the nunchucks together but each one had at least one string that came out on its own. I don't know if they will completely come apart making me have to glue them together which is something I normally don't have to do with action figures.

Before I pulled the four turtles out of the box I knew he was not going to be my favorite, mostly because of his head. I mentioned this in my Leonardo review and I feel the same way about Michelangelo. The expression they sculpted for him doesn't look quite right in my opinion. Of course as I took pictures of him from different angles it didn't look too bad but in hand I'm not super excited about his expression like I was with Raphael or Leonardo.

If it was just for Michelangelo and the way he looks I'd be happy with him. When you factor in the possibility of broken hands, the over spray on the head, and the nunchucks falling apart immediately  I'd have to rate him at 5 out of 10.

His head, to me, looks a little funny in this shot.

One hundred dollars later am I happy or not with these guys? Well I have to say I'm pretty happy with them. The issues I've had are not deal breakers and these guys, especially when they are all together, look wonderful. I found out that NECA also sold a rooftop backdrop that recreates the look of the movie very well but at 200 dollars currently I don't know if I'll be buying that or not but it looks cool.
