TMNT Donatello NECA 7 Inch 1990 Movie Action Figure

Today we have a 7 inch Donatello action figure based upon the 1990 TMNT film by NECA toys. I' have the 1/4 scale Donatello which I'll be using to compare these two different sized figures.

First off Donatello, like Raphael, looks like he just walked off the set of the 1990 film. What I also find interesting is that this 7 inch Donatello looks like a miniaturized 1/4 scale version.

It really looks like NECA took the shrinking ray from Honey I Shrunk The Kids and used it on the 1/4 scale Donatello. As far as the differences go between the two versions is that the tails of the 1/4 scale Donatello are made of fabric while the 7 inch Donatello's headband tails are made of plastic.

Donatello's body is the same as the one that Raphael uses. If you removed his head and belt I believe you wouldn't be able to tell the difference.

As far as accessories go Donatello comes with his bo staff, one set of open hands, a slice of plastic pizza, and a second bandana tails which are the same as Raphael came with, minus their signature weapons.

The turtles love pizza so I had to swap his hands so he can hold a slice. Compared to Raphael, Donatello's hands were nearly impossible to take off. I removed the first hand but the second hand wouldn't come out until it broke.

I have to say that I was rather upset when this happened. I know that NECA does have a problem with quality control and pieces breaking off when they are bent, removed, etc. I'm just glad that it was his open holding hand that broke instead of the hands that are used to hold his bo staff.

Overall I'm happy with this figure. Despite being an adult I have always wanted authentic looking figures from the 1990 movie and when the new Masters Of The Universe movie figures come out all the toys that I wanted as a child will be complete.

If it wasn't for his hand breaking I would say that this is a great action figure. Like Raphael, he would be a 10 out of 10 but having a piece break as soon as I put my hands on it isn't a great start. Because of this, I give this NECA 7 inch Donatello a 6 out of 10.
