Sid Fernandez (8-7) earned the win today after pitching 8 innings while giving up 4 hits, 11 strikeouts, 2 walks and 2 Earned Runs for an ERA of 2.25. Rick Aguilera pitched the 9th inning striking out one batter.
Howard Johnson had a good day today going 3 for 4 with a walk and two home runs driving in five of the Mets runs. Darryl Strawberry was 2 for 4 with a walk, two strikeouts with one RBI.
Dave Magaden committed an error for the Mets.
The Expos starter was Byrn Smith who earned the loss after pitching 6 innings and giving up 11 hits, 8 strikeouts, 1 walk and 5 Earned Runs for an ERA of 7.50. The Expos put Andy McGaffigan who pitched the next 2 innings allowing 4 hits and 2 Earned Runs for an ERA of 9.00. Tim Burke pitched the 9th inning walking 1 and giving up 0 runs.

Dwight Gooden (17-6) earned another win today going 8 innings while allowing 9 hits, 9 strikeouts, 1 walk and 2 Earned Runs for an ERA of 2.25. Randy Meyers pitched the 9th inning earning a save.
Darryl Strawberry went 1 for 4 today with a solo home run. Kevin Elster was 1 for 3 also with a solo home run. Keith Hernandez went 2 for 4 with a double.
Dennis Martinez earned a loss for the Expos today after pitching 7 innings while giving up 9 hits, 3 strikeouts and 3 Earned Runs for an ERA of 3.86. Jeff Parett pitched the last two innings giving up 1 hit, 4 strikeouts and 1 Earned Run for an ERA of 4.50.
Tim Raines was 2 for 4 today with a stolen base and a solo home run. Dave Martinez went 1 for 4 with a double and an RBI.

Keith Hernandez went 2 for 5 today with a strikeout and a 2 run home run. Darryl Strawberry was 2 for 5 and was caught stealing, striking out once and hitting a 2 run home run. Lenny Dykstra 4 for 5 with 2 stolen bases and 2 doubles.

Tim Wallach and Andres Galarraga each made an error today.
After taking two out of three games the Mets record increased to (96-45) while the Expos one win brings their record to (4-8)
