Bobby Ojeda (23-4) continues a great season with a win while lasting 8 2/3 innings giving up 8 hits, 5 strikeouts, 2 walks and 2 Earned Runs for an ERA of 2.08. Randy Meyers came in to finished the game earning a save in 1/3 innings pitched.
Kevin McReynolds went 2 for 4 today with a solo home run and a stolen base. Keith Hernandez was 1 for 4 also with a solo home run. Tim Teufel was 2 for 3 with an RBI double.
Dave LaPoint was the Pirates starter who earned the loss today after pitching 7 innings while giving up 6 hits, 2 strikeouts and 2 Earned Runs for an ERA of 2.57. Jeff Robinson pitched the last two innings and allowed only 1 hit while striking out one batter.
Sid Bream was 1 for 4 with a two run home run.
Bobby Bonilla made an error for the Pirates.

The Mets take game two from the Expos to complete the sweep.

Ron Darling (9-8) earned a win today in a complete game while giving up 7 hits, striking out 5, walking 4 and allowing 2 Earned Runs for an ERA of 2.00.
Gary Carter went 1 for 5 today with a two run home run. Mookie Wilson was 3 for 5 with a double.
Doug Drabek earned the loss today after pitching 6 innings and giving up 10 hits, 3 strikeouts, 5 walks and 6 Earned Runs for an ERA of 7.50. Barry Jones came in next and went two innings giving up only 1 hit, 1 strikeout and 0 runs. Jim Gott came in to pitch the 9th inning giving up zero hits and striking out one.
Bobby Bonilla was 2 for 4 with a triple while driving in 2 runs.
Barry Bonds, Sid Bream and Rafael Belliard each committed an error in this game.
After this two game series the Mets record increases to (98-45) while the Pirates record against the Mets is only (3-15). It looks like the Mets will hit 100 wins this season with 17 games left to play.
