Ron Darling ( 8-7) earned a win today in 6 1/3 innings while giving up 5 hits, 4 strikeouts, 2 walks and 2 Earned Runs for an ERA of 2.84. Roger McDowell came in for relief and pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up 2 hits, 1 strikeouts and 0 runs. Randy Meyers pitched the 9th inning and earned a save while striking out two.

Roger McDowell was 1 for 1 with a solo home run, the Mets first home run in many games. Greg Jefferies went 2 for 3 with an RBI.

Tim Leary was the Dodgers started and in 6 innings he allowed 5 hits, 2 strikeouts, 4 walks and 2 Earned Runs for an ERA of 3.00 earning him the loss for the game. Jesse Orosco pitched the 7th and 8th inning giving up 2 hits, 2 strikeouts and 1 Earned Run for an ERA of 4.50.

Jeff Hamilton was 1 for 4 with a double, the only extra base hit for the Dodgers. Kirk Gibson was 2 for 4 with 1 RBI.

The Mets beat the Dodgers in 10 innings with a score of 3 to 2.

Sid Fernandez (7-7) earned a no decision today. Fernandez went 7 1/3 innings allowing 7 hits, 8 strikeouts, 2 walks and 2 Earned Runs for an ERA of 2.45. Terry Leach went 1 2/3 innings of relief allowing 3 hits and 0 runs. Edwin Nenuez pitched the 10th inning and earned him the win striking out 1 batter.

Mookie Wilson went 3 for 5 today with a double and 1 RBI. Wally Backman was 1 for 4 with an RBI double.

Tim Belcher was the Dodgers starter who earned a no decision in 5 1/3 innings while giving up 6 hits, 2 strikeouts, 3 walks and 2 Earned Runs for an ERA of 3.38. Alejandro Pena came in for relief and went 2/3 innings striking out one batter. Next the Dodgers put Jesse Orosco in to pitched and he went for 2 innings while giving up 1 hit, 2 strikeouts and 0 runs. Jay Howell finished the game pitching 1 2/3 innings giving up 5 hits, 2 strikeouts and 1 Earned Run for an ERA of 5.40 to earn him the win.

Mike Marshall was 3 for 5 with an RBI double. Kirk Gibson went 1 for 5 with an RBI double.

After winning two games against the Dodgers the Mets record is (92-42) while the Dodgers slides to (4-7).
