Strat-O-Matic 1988 Replay Mets Games 146-148


The Mets host the Expos at Shea for a three-game series. The Mets record against the Expos this season is 8-4.

GAME 146: NEW YORK METS VS MONTREAL EXPOS

The Mets take game one from the Expos with a 4-0 shutout.

David Cone (17-7) dominated the Expos with a four-hit complete game shutout while giving up 1 walk and striking out 12.

On the offensive side, Kevin McReynolds hit a solo home run, his only hit in four at-bats. Dave Magaden, Kevin Elster and Mookie Wilson each hit a single scoring one run.

On the mound for the Expos was Neal Heaton who earned the loss while pitching 7 innings and giving up 8 hits, 2 walks and 5 strikeouts for an ERA of 3.86. Jeff Parrett pitched the 8th inning for the Expos and struck out two batters.

Tom Foley was 1 for 3 with a double and committed an error in today's game. Hubie Brooks also made an error.

Mike Fitzgerald suffered a severe injury today and will miss the next six games.

GAME 147: NEW YORK METS VS MONTREAL EXPOS

The Mets win game two with another shutout.

Bobby Ojeda (24-4) wins another game today. Ojeda pitched 8 innings and allowed 10 hits, 3 walks, and 9 strikeouts. Randy Meyers pitched the 9th inning for the Mets, walking one batter and striking out one to earn him a save.

Kevin Elster was 1 for 4 with a RBI triple.

Floyd Youmans pitched a good game today but earned the loss for Montreal. Youmans pitched 8 innings and only gave up 3 hits, 2 walks and struck out 4.

Tom Foley was 2 for 4 with a triple. Hubie Brooks went 2 for 4.

Tom Foley, Luis Rivera, and Nelson Santovenia each made an error in today's game, this is Foley's second error of this three-game series.

GAME 148: NEW YORK METS VS MONTREAL EXPOS

The Expos shutout the Mets 5-0 to keep them from being swept.

Ron Darling (9-9) earned the loss in today's game while going a complete 9 innings and giving up 10 hits, 1 walk, striking out 8 and allowing 5 Earned Runs for an ERA of 5.00.

The Mets offense was very quiet today with Kevin McReynolds and Gary Carter each hitting a single for the Mets only hits of the game.

Kevin Elster committed an error on short for the Mets.

Bryn Smith was the Expos starter and he earned the win in 8 innings giving up 2 hits, 3 strikeouts, and 0 runs. Jeff Parrett pitched the 9th inning for the Expos and walked one batter.


After this series, the Mets win their 100th game with two weeks left in their season. The Mets record is now (101-47) while the Expos record is (5-10).
