Kevin McReynolds was 3 for 5 with a double and home run driving in four runs for the Mets. Darryl Strawberry was 2 for 5 with a solo home run. Tim Teufel was 2 for 3 with 2 walks and two doubles.
Don Carman was the Phillies starter and went 6 1/3 innings while giving up 7 hits, 3 strikeouts, 2 walks and 2 Earned Runs for an ERA of 2.84. The Phillies brought in Kent Tekulve to pitch the remainder of the 7th inning and struck out one batter. Steve Bedrosian pitched the 8th and 9th innings and allowed 2 hits, struck out 3 and gave up 1 Earned Run for an ERA of 4.50. For the 10th inning, Greg Harris was sent to the mound and earned the loss after giving up 1 hits, 1 walk, 1 strikeout and 2 Earned Runs for an ERA of 27.00.
