I have decided that I want to shoot some 28mm six guns and I need some proper terrain so I went over to World Works Games and purchased their DeadFall Building Essentials set for the low low price of $8.63. I've bought paper terrain from them before including their Mayhem Gas Station
and Mayhem Streets Of Legend so I was safe knowing that I'd be getting my money's worth. The first building I built is a nice little general store. It looks great and was pretty easy to build. Like all my other paper terrain builds I attach the paper to foam core to give them more strength since I'm a klutz and will at some point drop every piece of terrain.
I put on a slanted roof that was just paper but I used some Popsicle sticks and hot glue to make a quick and dirty bracing to hold the paper where I wanted it to go and to also give it some strength. It actually worked out better than I thought it would.
The Building Essentials kit also comes with tables, chairs, cabinets, etc to help fill make your buildings look the part. In this picture, you can see that I've added a counter, table, and two cabinets full of merchandise for the proprietor to sell. I haven't decided if I'm going to glue the furniture down or to keep it portable. The portability is nice since I can use it anywhere but the biggest drawback is that it's very easy to knock them over while moving minis. I will probably not glue them but we will see.
I built the front door so it can be opened, you can see a mysterious stranger emerging from within, is it a lawman or a desperado? It works pretty well but the only problem I have is that it's pulling on the inside paper wall and I can't have that happen. And I put the door in backward so that the doorknob is connected to the wall like the hinges should be. So far I like what I've built from this set and check back as I build up a nice little town to shoot up.
