Strat-O-Matic 1988 Replay Cubs Games 27-29
After a long West Coast visit the Cubs host the San Francisco Giants at Wrigley Field. The Cubs are looking to snap a losing streak nearly into double digits. This season the Cubs are (0-3) against the Giants.

Jamie Moyer (2-2) earn the Cubs their tenth loss in a row in today's game. Moyer pitched 8 innings giving up 6 hits, 4 strikeouts, 2 walks, and 3 Earned Runs for an ERA of 3.38. Al Nipper pitched one inning of relief giving up 1 hit and 1 walk.
Andre Dawson went 1 for 4 today with a RBI single. Rafael Palmeiro was 2 for 4 with a RBI. Mark Grace was 1 for 4 today with a double.
In the field, Vance Law made two errors at third base.
Mike LaCoss earned a win today after pitching 8 innings while giving up 9 hits, 4 strikeouts, 4 walks, and 1 Earned Run for an ERA of 1.12. Craig Lefferts came in to pitch the 9th inning and earned a save while walking one batter and striking one out.

The Cubs snapped their losing streak with a 1-0 win. Calvin Schiraldi (1-2) earned his first win of the season after going 7 innings and giving up 6 hits, 3 walks, 8 strikeouts, and 0 Earned Runs. Frank Dipino pitched the 8th for the Cubs giving up 3 hits, 1 walk, 3 strikeouts, and 0 Earned Run. Goose Gossage pitched the 9th inning and earned a save while allowing no batters to reach base.
Mark Grace was 1 for 3, driving in the only run of the game.Damon Berryhill was 1 for 2 with a double.
For the Giants, Rick Reuschel was the starter who pitched 6 innings giving up 4 hits, 4 strikeouts, and 1 Earned Run for an ERA of 1.50. Scott Garrelts came in and pitched the last two innings allowing only 1 walk and 1 strikeout.
Brett Butler was 3 for 4 today with a double. Robby Thompson went 2 for 4 with two singles.

On the mound for Chicago was Rick Sutcliffe (1-2) who earned a lose today after pitching 6 1/3 innings before being pulled. Sutcliffe gave up 6 hits, 4 walks, 6 strikeouts and 3 Earned Runs for an ERA of 4.26. Next, the Cubs put Jeff Pico into the game who finished the 7th inning off giving up 2 hits and 1 Eared Run for an ERA of 13.50. Al Nipper pitched the last two innings for the Cubs and gave up 1 hit, 1 strikeout, and 0 runs.
Andre Dawson went 2 for 4 today with a double. Vance Law was 1 for 4 with a double.
Both Vance Law and Rick Sutcliffe committed an error in today's game.
On the mound for San Francisco was Joe who pitched a complete game shutout against the Cubs. Price gave up 5 hits, 2 walks, and struck out 10 batters.
Kevin Mitchell was 1 for 4 with a RBI triple. Candy Maldonando was 2 for 4 with a RBI double.
After another disappointing series, the Cubs record erodes to (17-24) while the Giants improve their record to (12-6).
