Sid Fernandez (9-7) earned the win today after pitching 8 innings while giving up 4 this, 9 strikeouts, 2 walks and 0 runs. Bob McClure came in the pitch the 9th inning and only made one out before giving up 2 hits and a run making his ERA for the game 27.00. Randy Meyers came in and finished the game earning a save and walking one and striking out one batter.
Howard Johnson was 1 for 4 with an RBI double, he also made an error. Wally Backman had one hit in four at bats driving in an RBI.
Jamie Moyer earned the loss today. Moyer pitched 6 2/3 innings giving up 7 hits, 2 strikeouts, 2 walks and 1 Earned Run for an ERA of 1.35. Les Lancaster pitched the last 1 1/3 innings allowing no runs.
Vance Law was 1 for 4 with a double today. Shawon Dunston was 1 for 4 with an RBI single. Ryne Sandberg went 1 for 4 with a stolen base.
Shawon Dunston committed two errors in today's game.
GAME 145 : New York Mets VS Chicago Cubs
The Cubs win today's game to split the series 1 to 1.

Dwight Gooden (17-7) earned the loss today in a complete game. Gooden gave up 12 hits, struck out 5, walked 1 and allowed 5 Earned Runs for an ERA of 5.00.
Keith Hernandez went 1 for 3 today with a walk and an RBI. Gary Carter was also 1 for 4 with an RBI double.
Calvin Schiraldi was the Cubs starter and earned the win in 5 innings pitched giving up 4 hits, 1 strikeout, 5 walks and 3 Earned Runs for an ERA of 5.40. Pat Perry came in to pitch the 6th and 7th inning striking out 2 batters. Goose Gossage earned the save pitching the 8th and 9th inning for the Cubs giving up 1 hit, walking 3 and striking out 1.
Andre Dawson was 3 for 4 today with a grand slam home run. Ryne Sandberg went 2 for 4 with a double and a stolen base.
This series brings the Mets within one win to hit 100 this season (99-46) while the Cubs record is now (6-10).
