SUMMARY:

In today's game Orel Hershiser pitched a gem of a game. He only allowed 5 hits and 1 Earned Run in a complete game. Hershiser also struck out 8 batters while not walking anyone. The Athletics pitchers combined to give up only 2 runs but when your teams bats aren't producing it only takes 2 runs to win.

After missing a day Jose Canseco, while driving in the only run for the Athletics, had a terrible day going 0 for 4 with 2 strikeouts. Dave Anderson, who is playing for the injured Griffin, had a great day going 4 for 4 with an RBI.

In real life the the Dodgers won Game 5 with a score of 5-2 winning them the World Series. Hershiser pitched a complete game giving up only 4 hits, striking out 9 and allowing 2 Earned Runs. His stats in both games are pretty close, same innings, 1 strikeout and 1 run difference. The only big change was hits where Hershiser gave up 5 less hits in real life but in Strat only allowed 1 run. As you can see the game played out fairly close to reality.

The Player Of The Game is without doubt Orel Hershiser. He pitched a great game just like in the real game.

Stay tuned for Game 6 of my 1988 Strat-O-Matic World Series Replay. Being down 3 games to 2 the Athletics are one game away for losing the Series.
