Strat-O-Matic 1988 Replay Mets Games 98-100


The Mets travel to Philadelphia for a three game series against the Phillies.

GAME 98 : New York Mets @ Philadelphia Phillies

The Phillies win Game 1 with a score of 10-7.

Ron Darling (4-6) loses another game giving him the worst record for the Mets. In 5 1/3 innings Darling surrendered 16 hits, struck out 2 batters, walked 1 and allowed 9 Earned Runs for an ERA of 15.19. Terry Leach came in to relieve Darling and pitched 2 2/3 innings giving up only 3 hits and 1 Earned Run for an ERA of 3.38.

Kevin McReynolds was 2 for 4 with a double and a home run driving in 3 runs. Howard Johnson was 2 for 4 with a home run driving in 2 runs.

Shane Rawley earned the win in 6 innings. He allowed 6 hits, 3 Ks, 2 BBs and 5 Earned Runs for an ERA of 7.50. Greg Harris pitched 2 innings of relief giving up 1 hit, 2 Ks and 0 Earned Runs. Kent Tekulve pitched the 9th inning and gave up 2 hits and 2 Earned Runs for an ERA of 18.00.

Chris James was 3 for 4 with a walk, a double and a home run driving in 3 runs. Juan Samuel was 3 for 5 with a 2 run home run.

GAME 99 : New York Mets @ Philadelphia Phillies

The Mets come back to win Game 2 with a score of 3 to 2.

Sid Fernandez (13-5) earned the win today for the Mets. In 7 innings Fernandez surrendered 6 hits, struck out 9, walked 4 and allowed 2 Earned Runs for an ERA of 2.57. Randy Meyers earned a save in 2 innings of relief. He gave up 0 hits, struck out 3 and allowed 0 runs.

Mackey Sasser was 1 for 4 with a solo home run. Mookie Wilson was 1 for 4 with a double driving in 1 RBI.

Kevin Gross was the Phillies starter who earned the loss in 7 innings giving up 9 hits, 4 strikeouts and 3 Earned Runs for an ERA of 3.86. Greg Harris pitched 2 innings of relief giving up 0 hits or runs.

Von Hayes was 1 for 4 with a triple and an RBI. Mitt Thompson was 2 for 4 with a double and an RBI.

Dwight Gooden (12-4) earned the win today in 7 innings pitched giving up 8 hits, 7 strikeouts, 1 walk and 4 Earned Runs for an ERA of 5.14. Terry Leach pitched 2 innings of relief giving up 1 hit, striking out 2 and allowing 0 runs.

Kevin McReynolds went 2 for 4 with 2 walks and 2 home runs driving in 4 RBIs. Dave Magaden was 2 for 4 with an RBI. Mackey Sasser was 3 for 6 with a double and 1 RBI. Dwight Gooden was 2 for 4 with an RBI.

Bruce Ruffin earned the loss today for the Braves. In 4 2/3 innings he surrendered 10 hits, struck out 4, walked 5 and allowed 6 Earned Runs for an ERA of 11.57. Mike Maddux pitched 2 innings of relief giving up 3 hits, striking out 2, walking 2 and 0 runs. Steve Bedrosian pitched 1/3 inning of relief in the 7th striking out 1. Kent Tekulve pitched the 8th inning giving up 3 hits, walking 2 and allowing 0 runs. Greg Harris pitched the 9th inning and struck out 1 batter.

Mike Schmidt was 2 for 4 with a 3 run home run. Phil Bradley was 1 for 3 with an RBI. Juan Samuel, Mitt Thompson and Von Hayes each had a stolen base.

Mitt Thompson, Mike Maddux and Bruce Ruffin each committed an error for the Phillies.

The Mets win 2 out of 3 against the Phillies bringing their record to (71-29) while the Phillies record drops to (3-9).
