Bobby Ojeda (19-2) was on the mound for the Mets today and earned a no decision in 6 2/3 innings. Ojeda surrendered 7 hits, struck out 8, walked 2 and gave up 3 Earned Runs for an ERA of 4.05. Terry Leach came in to relieve Ojeda and pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up only 1 hit. Randy Meyers came in to pitch the 9th and 10th and gave up 3 hits, struck out 2 and allowed 1 Earned Run for an ERA of 4.50. Edwin Nunez came in to pitch in the 11th and gave up 3 hits, 1 walk and 1 Earned Run earning Nunez the loss today.
Lenny Dykstra went 3 for 5 with a walk and a double. Gary Carter was 1 for 5 with a solo home run. Wally Backman went 2 for 5 with a double driving in 2 runs.
Greg Maddux was the Cubs starter and earned a no decision in 6 2/3 innings of work giving up 10 hits, striking out 2, walking 3 and allowing 4 Earned Runs for an ERA of 5.40. Les Lancaster came in the 6th to pitch going 2 1/3 innings and giving up only 1 hit. Goose Gossage pitched the 10th and 11th innings and gave up 1 hit and struck out 3 earning him the win.
Damon Berryhill had a very good day at the plate going 4 for 5 with a solo home run. Shawon Dunston was 3 for 5 with a 2 run home run.

The Mets come back and beat the Cubs 4 to 0.

Ron Darling (5-7) pitched a great game shutting out the Cubs in a complete 9 innings. Darling gave up 5 hits, walked 2 and struck out 12 batters.
Tim Teufel went 3 for 4 with an RBI. Kevin McReynolds was 1 for 4 with a 2 run home run.
Kevin McReynolds suffered a minor injury and will miss the next game.
Jamie Moyer earned the loss today for the Cubs. In 7 innings Moyer gave up 5 hits, walked 3, struck out 2 and gave up 1 Earned Run for an ERA of 1.29. Les Lancaster pitched 1 inning of relief and surrendered 0 hits. Frank Dipino pitched the 9th inning and gave up 3 hits and 2 Earned Runs for an ERA of 18.00.
Damon Berryhill was 1 for 3 with a double. Andre Dawson was 2 for 4.

Sid Fernandez (16-5) earned the win today for the Mets. In 7 2/3 innings he gave up 10 hits, walked 1, struck out 4 and surrendered 6 Earned Runs for an ERA of 7.04. Randy Meyers pitched 1 1/3 innings of relief and earned the save while striking out 1 batter.
Keith Hernandez hit a grand slam in his only hit in 3 at bats. Mookie Wilson was 5 for 5 with a double.
Calvin Schiraldi earned the Cubs the loss today in 3 2/3 innings giving up 9 hits, striking out 1 batter and allowing 7 Earned Runs for an ERA of 17.18. Jeff Pico pitched the next 3 innings giving up 4 hits, walking 1 and striking out 2. Pat Perry pitched 2 1/3 innings giving up 2 hits and striking out 2.
Darrin Jackson went 2 for 4 with 2 home runs driving in 5 RBIs. Ryne Sandberg went 3 for 4 with 3 stolen bases!
