Game Of Thrones Season 1 Episode 1By Telltale Games Review

Game Of Thrones: A Telltale Game Series is a video game adventure game based upon the A Song Of Fire And Ice novels by George R.R. Martin and the HBO TV series. The game is split into 6 Episodes, as of this writing, the first four have been released. The game can be played upon the Xbox, PlayStation, PC, Droid based phones /tablets and Apple iPhone and iPads. I was going to wait until all six episodes were released by they just made the first episode available for free so I downloaded it and gave it a try.

**Spoilers**

I will not give away any game spoilers but this game takes place between the end of the third season to the start of the fifth so if you haven't watched those episodes I suggest you skip this review and game until you are caught up.

The Telltale video games are a point and click adventure type game that is very story-driven. You'll see in-game cut scenes and will be prompted to give answers to questions. They are usually timed not giving you the time to fully think through your decision. There is also some combat involving moving your character in different directions to avoid an attack and to pick up and use weapons. Anyone familiar to Telltale games will have no problem playing this game. New players will also have no trouble playing this game as the video game aspects are pretty tame.

The heart of the Telltale game series is the choices your character makes. You usually have around five or so big decisions to make during each episode and they can be heartbreaking at times. Having to choose between saving one friend while another dies and other hard to make choices. And like I said above you have a very limited amount of time to make your choice.

The game takes place in the HBO TV version and starts during the red wedding. I haven't played the other episodes but I read online it will end before the fifth season starts. You are in command of a handful of characters of the House Forresters, a northern family who were loyal to the Starks before their house fell. Your house is in turmoil and you need to use your cunning to keep your family safe from the threats it is under.

The game is populated with major characters that you interact with. These characters include Cersei and Tyrion Lannister, Jon Snow, Margaery Tyrell, and Daenerys Targaryen. And to help tie the game to the TV show the actions who play these characters voice them in the game.

For those of you who are unaware, these games are not for kids. They include violent acts and bad language so I wouldn't let little Timmy play but if you're familiar with the books/TV show you should already know that.  I enjoyed the story and setting very much and have to say that the end of the first episode surprised me. It was a very enjoyable game and once the rest of the episodes are released I will play the game straight through.

The game does have a few minor flaws. The biggest being that characters in the game start to talk and you see their mouths moving but you miss a few words. It is nowhere near as bad as the last level of The Wolf Among Us when all the characters started to speak Spanish. I'm not fluent and I had to guess each of my answers. Other than that the game ran pretty well for me on my Xbox 360.

If you are a fan of Game Of Thrones or Telltale games you should try this game. If you enjoy point and click adventures or story-driven games you should like this game as well. The first episode can be downloaded for free so you have no reason to not give it a try. The rest cost 5 dollars each but the best way to go is the season pass for 20 dollars which gets you all the chapters. I would rate this game at a 9 out of 10.

"Why aren't you playing the game?"
