Mega Bloks Katana Swat Leo Action Figure From Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Review

Today I bring you another toy rescued by my wife from the clearance aisle. This is Leonardo from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in the form of a Mega Construx toy. This isn't from their Heroes line like some of the Masters Of The Universe toys I've reviewed, which also has some TMNT figures that look different than this one, but a separate one... I think. It can be hard to find information out on these toys.

Officially this is Katana Swat Leo from the TMNT line of Mega Bloks. He is in the same scale as the other Mega Construx Heroes releases but doesn't come with a base with his name on it. Instead, Leonardo has a "street" base with a "fire hydrant" that he can knock over. The Leonardo figure is placed on a rotating piece and you swing him to knock over the fire hydrant. Absolute basic "action feature" for a low priced kids' toy.

Leo comes with a total of 22 pieces which includes himself with his belt and two katana swords as well as the street base with a fire hydrant.

I believe that this set is geared more towards kids than kids at heart like me. The regular Mega Construx Heroes line is for ages 8+ and has toys from the Terminator and X-Files series which I don't think is too popular with kids under 8 while this toy is marked for ages 5+ and other than the more cartoony look to the toy I can't see any other differences.

As can be seen in the pictures, this Leonardo figure is done in a younger cartoon look compared to the Mega Construx Heroes releases that have the original comic book look which is a lot more "adult" than this toy. It's your choice which one you like more but for me, it's definitely the comic book look.

No complaints from me with this toy except the fact that Leonardo's face has some marks on it. I honestly don't know if it's supposed to be there or not, I just know I don't like it and let's leave it at that.

Overall there is nothing wrong with this toy I just think it's been designed for a younger audience than me. The style is a bit too cute and I'm not buying these toys to play with so an action feature isn't necessary. If this is your cup of tea than I say go for it but I'll choose the comic book style over this one. I give Katana Swat Leo a 6 out of 10.
