Let's Play 2012 World Series With Strat-O-Matic Game 6

Welcome to Game 6 of my Strat-O-Matic 2012 World Series Replay between the Detroit Tigers and the San Francisco Giants. If you missed the other games you can click here for Game 1, Game 2, Game 3, Game 4, Game 5. In my Replay the Detroit Tigers are ahead 3-2. Today's game will be in San Francisco.



The Lineups for today's game are as follows:

DETROIT TIGERS LINEUP:

TOP OF THE FIRST:

Austin Jackson leads off game 6 with a single to left field. Infante flies out to right field for the first out of the game. Miguel Cabrera strikes out for the second out. Prince Fielder ends the top of the first by flying out to right field

BOTTOM OF THE FIRST:

Angel Pagan leads off for the Giants with a ground out to second. Marco Scutaro goes down swinging for the second out. Pablo Sandoval grounds out to second for the final out of the inning. At the end of the first inning the game is tied at 0.

TOP OF THE SECOND:

Delmon Young leads off with a frozen rope to short for the first out. Peralta hits one deep to Blanco at left who makes the catch for the second out. Boesch grounds out to second for the third out.

BOTTOM OF THE SECOND:

Buster Posey leads off with a walk. Pence can't move him to second with a fly out to center field. Brandon Belt grounds out to second for the second out. Gregor Blanco is struck out by Fister for the last out of the second inning. The game is still tied at 0 at the end of the second inning.

TOP OF THE THIRD:

Alex Anvil leads off the third with a walk from Bumgarner. Fister the pitcher puts down a bunt to try and move Anvil into scoring position but the Giants throw out the lead runner at second. Austin Jackson his a single into center giving the Tigers runners on first and second with one out. Omar Infante hits a single into right field scoring Anvil from second for the first run of the game. Cabrera also singles into right to score Fister. The Tigers have runners on first and second with one out. Fielder hits a line drive to Scutaro at second for the second out who then doubles off Jackson at second for an unassisted double play. The Tigers now lead 2-0.

BOTTOM OF THE THIRD:

Brandon Crawford is walked by Fister. Madison Bumgarner is struck out by Fister for the first out. Pagan rips a double into right field giving the Giants runners on second and third with one out. Marco Scutaro hits a frozen rope down the line and is able to leg out a triple scoring the two runners. Sandoval grounds out to second for the second out. Buster Posey is walked giving the Giants runners on first and second with two outs. Hunter Pence ends the inning with a strike out. The game at the end of the third inning is tied at 2.

TOP OF THE FOURTH:

Delmon Young crushes the first pitch over the center field fence for a solo home run! Bumgarner settles down and strikes out Peralta for the first out. Boesch rips a double into the gap. Alex Avila strikes out for the second out. Doug Fister hits a single giving the Tigers runners on the corners. Austin Jackson ends the inning with a strike out. The Tigers now lead 3-2.

BOTTOM OF THE FOURTH:

For the third inning in a row the Giants get their first batter on with a walk. Blanco flies out to center for the first out. Crawford hits a single past the short stop moving Belt up to second. Bumgarner is struck out for the second time of the game. Angel Pagan ends the inning with a line drive to Omar Infante at second. At the end of the fourth inning the Tigers lead 3-2.

TOP OF THE FIFTH:

Omar Infante leads off the fifth with a strike out giving Bumgarner his 5th strike out of the game. Cabrera gets his second single of the day with a hit between second and third. Prince Fielder hits a double for his first hit of the game advancing Cabrera to third. Delmon Young hits a deep fly ball to right field that Pence catches for the second out but his throw doesn't reach the plate in time and Cabrera scores. Peralta ends the inning with a strike out. The Tigers add to their lead 4-2.

BOTTOM OF THE FIFTH:

Marco Scutaro keeps the streak alive with a lead off walk. Sandoval hits a grounder to third and the Tigers get the lead runner out at second for the first out. Posey hits a grounder to second and the Tigers try to turn a double play but Posey is safe at first giving the Tigers a runner on first with two outs. Pence lines out to short for the last out of the fifth. The Tigers lead at the bottom of the fifth 4-2.

TOP OF THE SIXTH:

Brennan Boesch leads off the Sixth inning with a strike out. Anvil rips a pitch to Marco Scutaro at second who bobbles the ball allowing Scutaro to be safe at first giving Anvil an error. Fister strikes out for the second out. Austin Jackson keeps the inning alive with a base on balls. Omar Infante ends the inning with a strike out giving Madison Bumgarner 9 strike outs.

BOTTOM OF THE SIXTH:

Brandon Belt leads off with a fly out to center field for the first out. Blanco gets his first hit of the game with a single. Crawford strikes out, that's the first time this game he doesn't reach base safely. Bumgarner grounds out to second for the last out of the sixth. At the end of the sixth the Tigers lead 4-2.

TOP OF THE SEVENTH:

Cabrera leads off with a walk. Prince Fielder hits a weak grounder to second and the Giants turn a double play. Delmon Young crushes a home run, his second of the game! Jhonny Peralta ends the inning with a strike out giving Bumgarner 10 strike outs. The Tigers now lead 5-2.

BOTTOM OF THE SEVENTH:

Angel Pagan leads off with a ground out to short stop. Scutaro hits a deep fly ball to left field but it's caught for the second out. Pablo Sandoval keeps the inning alive with a grounder to Fielder at first who bobbles the ball for an Error. Posey ends the seventh inning with a strike out. At the bottom of the seventh the Tigers lead 5-2.

TOP OF THE EIGHTH:

Boesch leads off the inning with walk. Alex Avila hits a grounder to the pitcher who is able to turn two. Doug Fister strikes out for the second time in this game giving Bumgarner 11 strike outs.

BOTTOM OF THE EIGHTH:

Hunter Pence is struck out for the first out of the inning. Brandon Belt gets his first hit of the game with a single to center field. Gregor Blanco flies out to center for the second out. Crawford strikes out for the final out of the eighth inning. The Tigers go into the last inning leading 5-2.

TOP OF THE NINTH:

Austin Jackson leads off the ninth with a triple, he is 3 for 4 today with a walk. The Giants decide that Madison Bumgarner is done for the game and replace him with Sergio Romo. Romo strikes out Omar Infante for the first out of the ninth, that's his third strike out of the game. Miguel Cabrera also strikes out for the second out. Prince Fielder grounds out to the first baseman for the last out.

BOTTOM OF THE NINTH:

This is the Giants last chance for both this game and the World Series. The pitcher Romo is up first but the Giants send Andy Dirks to pinch hit who flies out to left for the first out. Pagan grounds out to short for the second out. Marco Scutaro keeps the Giants alive with a single to left. It all comes down to Pablo Sandoval who's hit less this game. Sandoval pops up to short to end the game and the World Series. The Detriot Tigers defeat the San Francisco Giants 5 to 2 and win the Series 4-2.

SUMMARY:

As you can see Strat doesn't always play out as it did in real life but that's the fun of it. If Strat played out exactly as real life it wouldn't be any fun to play.

I'm naming Delmon Young of the Detroit Tigers as World Series MVP. His batting average was 269 and hit 3 home runs driving in 4 runs.

I had fun playing this World Series, not only because I know these players more than from 1927 but because I watched this one. I hope this World Series Replay has made you want to break out your Strat-O-Matic and roll some dice. Next week I'll be bringing you a new World Series Replay so I'll see you then.
