Sid Fernandez (3-2) goes 6 innings in a no decision for the Mets. Fernandez gave up 5 hits, 6 Ks, 1 BB and 2 Earned Runs for an ERA of 3.00. Terry Leach pitched 2 innings of relief allowing 9 hits, 1 K and 1 Earned Run for an ERA of 4.50 getting Leach the loss for the game.
Darryl Strawberry was 2 for 4 with a solo home run. Keith Hernandez was 2 for 4 with a double and an RBI.
For the Astros Danny Darwin got the win in 7 innings pitched allowing 9 hits, 3 Ks and 4 Earned Runs for an ERA of 5.14. Dave Smith pitched 2 innings of relief giving up just 1 hit, 1 K and 0 Earned Runs.
Kevin Bass was 2 for 4 with a triple and 2 RBIs. Gerald Young was 1 for 4 with an RBI double. Buddy Bell also was 2 for 4 with an RBI double.

Dwight Gooden (3-2) earned the win today in 7 2/3 innings pitched. Gooden gave up 8 hits, 6 Ks, 2 BBs and 1 Earned Run for an ERA of 1.17. Randy Meyers pitched 1 1/3 innings of relief surrendering 3 hits and 0 Earned Runs.
Mookie Wilson was 1 for 5 with a 2 run home run. Howard Johnson was also 1 for 5 with a two run home run. Garry Carter was 3 for 4 with a double and 3 RBIs.
On the mound for the Astros was Jim Deshaies who earned the loss in 7 innings pitched giving up 9 hits, 2 Ks, 3 BBs and 7 Earned Runs for an ERA of 9.00. Bob Forsch came in to relief Deshaies in the 8th going 2 innings giving up 2 hits, 1 BB and 1 Earned Run for an ERA of 4.50.

Keith Hernandez of the Mets suffered a minor injury and will miss the next game.
